CLNT - 2017-04-07 Percent Gainer - Vol High - Prior Vol High Strategy

Hello there everyone. A pleasant day to one and all.

I have here a new example with the strategy I showed you previously, the so called Volume High - Prior Volume High Entry. This stock CLNT showed up in my radar with the use of the Yahoo Percent Gainer Excel I created. Around 9:48AM I did a preliminary extract of data that I compared with the 4:00PM data of yesterday (April 6, 2017).

This is the data at 9:48AM 2017/04/07. This data was dumped into my excel spreadsheet using the Yahoo Percent Gainer I created. It has built-in Menu with pre-set filters appropriate for the possible trade I am looking for.

With all this data it is really very hard to sort or filter out what do you really need. Although here we can say that yes this CLNT had changed $2.2 that is 32.74%. At this stage this can still rise or pull back and re-test that new high it created. So far it's on the top of our list.

How did I get the data to validate my conviction that there is a huge interest on this stock, or there is a huge audience that will drive this stock higher? This is when the other script I programmed comes in. The script will compare this new data at 9:48AM against the data of yesterday April 6, 2017 at 04:00PM.

Comparing the price and volume of the new data against the data of yesterday helped a lot in gaining an insight whether a stock may have the necessary strength to continue. That 1.7M Volume surge on top of yesterday's is a big sign people are watching this stock and are eager to be with the ride.

After the data comparison I checked for possible Catalyst of the move. And it looks like the move was due to its gaining back its Compliance with NASDAQ Minimum Bid Price Listing Requirement.

With this kind of Volume it seemed everyone is excited for this stock to make a come back. The chart as you can see had shown a move from $3.00 to $7.00 yesterday. That's a massive move. So with so much audience you can capitalize on it. If it is going to move $3.00, just a dollar less from yesterday's $4.00 move then you can perhaps capture at least its $1.00 pop.

And here's how it is done.

1. Do not chase the rise.
2. Wait for a pull back with lower lows being formed and higher lows being formed. This is what we call Volatility Contraction of Price, where in the price high and low congregate into a focal point and a minor pop comes accompanied with a good green volume, at least double from its previous 2 volumes. Let's call this New popping volume as "Vol High."
3. Trace back a green volume prior to that New High Volume whose height is next in height of that New High Volume. Let's call this volume "Prior Vol High". Find the candle associated with this Prior Vol High. Find the low of that candle. Set your buy order 5 cents above this low and that will be your buy order.
4. Once your order is filled, set your Stop Loss 20cents lower than your entry. You can have a hard stop if you want or you can have this mentally and just be ready when the trade goes against you. Your risk reward is 20cents possible loss against a $1.00 reward which is your possible target.
5. Set your price target by placing a sell order 15 cents lower than the whole number price that is about to be broken out. You can take half of your position and let the other half ride the break out if it breaks out. You can also take everything out if you can. Money is money, so take it while it is still there.

And here's how it was played out.

1. Around 9:48AM we had that data extraction and comparison. Price had hit already a high of $9.93 and 9:48AM seemed that those who had got in yesterday are now taking their profits. This is normal. No trade done.
2. Volatility Contraction of Price(VCP) was created. Lower Highs and Higher lows are formed. And these are clearly seen as soon as those cyan lines are drawn. The price action is moving towards a focal point in a triangle. Everything converge inside the Upper and Lower Channel (Cyan Lines). Then a pop came breaking out of the upper channel of the VCP around 10:42AM. The Volume was at least double than the previous 2 volumes. Now we have a valid breakout.We named the Volume of this breakout candle as "Vol High".
3. Tracing backward for the "Pre Vol High" we found that the low of that Pre Vol High was $7.80. We placed a buy order of $7.85, which was 5 cents higher than the low of that Pre Vol High candle. After the breakout from the VCP, a temporary weakness occurred and the price dropped to as low as $7.75 around 10:59AM. From this drop the order got filled for $7.85, then the price came back up. 
4. Knowing that the drop went into the $7.75 line, this became the stop loss line, in case the trade had reversed.
5. Since the stock had shown a $4.00 move yesterday and had already moved $3.00 (from 6.50 to 9.50), in the 1st quarter of the Market opening and pulled back, we anticipated a $9.00 and $9.50 breakout. So we place a sell order at $8.85, 15cents lower that the $9.00 target. This setting will account a $1.00 profit.

And here's the result of the trade.

 It was a very satisfying trade. $1.00 profit in just 1:00 of trade. The price actually broke 9.00 and 9.50 and reached 10.50 before reversing. It would have been $2.65 profit if we continued riding with it. But $1.00 profit is a huge one, so cannot complain about it. It's wonderful.

Had you stayed longer this is what's going to happen too. Your whole profit will be wiped out and you will be in the losing position. So it's good not to be greedy and take the profit while it is still at the table.
